Classification Structure
and VBIS tagging

Consistent Asset Structures and Asset Information

The asset classification tables inclusive of the VBIS tags are freely available for download and use. The tables are available for download by discipline in spreadsheet format. The database file for the BIM Interoperability Tool for Revit/Navisworks is also available. The XML file for ArchiCAD is coming soon.

This content is available for free to be used to help better structure asset registers and related asset information. If you require support with this please refer to the Consulting and Support services outlined at the bottom of this page.

If you would like to have a discipline added or need new asset types added to the existing disciplines please contact us at info@vbis.com.au.

Mapping to Uniclass 2015
and Omniclass 2012

Supporting Easy Adoption

We have mapped Uniclass and Omniclass product codes to the VBIS tags. This allows VBIS to sit alongside any current schemas adopted an provide the additional granularity needed for operational activities.

This is typically made available through our implementation consulting services as our preference is to review how product codes have been adopted and work with you to ensure accurate mapping.

VBIS Enabled Partners

For Software Providers

VBIS enable your software offerings by adopting the tagging and the search syntax. The tagging provides the metatag to identify disparate information. The search syntax then offers the means to locate the information that is hosted in various applications or locations.

Consulting and Support Services

We can lend our expertise used to develop VBIS to help adopt it and provide the structure to the asset registers, consistency in asset information and the ease of access to the information that is desired.

There are a few key considerations to ensure success:

  • Define current state and define framework

    • Reviews of current systems and asset information to establish current state and recommend improvements

    • Generate business requirements to understand what information and infrastructure such as software systems are needed to achieve organisational objectives. This determines the desired future outcomes.

  • Detail roadmap to implement new framework

    • Develop the asset information framework and overall system architecture.

    • Asset information gap analysis and improvement recommendations

    • Detail roadmap with milestones to achieve implemented asset information framework. This takes the organisation from current state to desired state in work packages.

  • Deploy Technology Roadmap

    • Asset condition audits, data capture and set up asset register and asset information

    • 3D Scanning and model creation

    • Procurement support and vendors selection reviews

    • Program management

    • User acceptance testing and quality assurance

We can support from start to finish. Reach out to discuss your requirements.
